Long-travel control for the modern Miata chassis.
The Spec-S sharpens the ND Miata’s response, reduces body motion, and improves confidence during street and autocross driving while preserving the compliance that makes the car fun on real roads.
Dežru Spec-S Coilovers – Mazda MX-5 Miata ND
The Dežru Spec-S coilover system for the 2016–2026 Mazda MX-5 Miata ND was developed for drivers who want a sharper, more composed Miata without turning the car into a stiff, nervous mess.
The ND chassis is light, responsive, and extremely sensitive to suspension setup. Too much spring rate can make the car skate over imperfect pavement. Too little damping can leave it rolling, pitching, and feeling disconnected during quick transitions. The Spec-S is designed to sit in the sweet spot: controlled, compliant, and genuinely fun to drive hard.
With a long-stroke damper layout, digressive monotube valving, and a balanced 550 lb/in front / 300 lb/in rear spring package, this system is ideal for spirited street driving, autocross, canyon roads, and occasional HPDE use.
Recommended Spring Package
550 Front / 300 Rear – Street & Autocross Package
For the ND Miata, we recommend a 550 lb/in front and 300 lb/in rear spring package as the best all-around setup for street and autocross use.
This rate pairing gives the front end the support it needs during braking, turn-in, and quick transitions while keeping the rear composed and predictable. The goal is not to make the ND feel artificially stiff. The goal is to let the chassis rotate naturally while keeping the tires planted and the car easy to trust at the limit.
This setup delivers:
- Sharper steering response and improved front-end support
- Reduced body roll and brake dive
- Improved transitional response for autocross
- Better chassis balance without excessive oversteer
- Excellent compliance for real-world street driving
- A planted, predictable feel during aggressive cornering
Ideal Shock Travel Targets
-
Approx. 136mm front shock stroke for improved bump absorption, front-end grip, and steering consistency.
-
Approx. 180mm rear shock stroke to preserve rear compliance, traction, and stability over uneven pavement.
Longer usable stroke is especially important on the ND chassis because it allows the suspension to do actual suspension things. Wild concept, apparently.
Instead of relying on stiff springs and short dampers that run out of travel, the Spec-S is designed to keep the tires working over real pavement. That means better grip, better ride quality, and a car that feels controlled instead of crashy.
Key Features
-
Digressive monotube dampers for strong low-speed chassis control with compliant high-speed response.

-
20-click rebound adjustment to fine-tune comfort, response, and balance.
-
550 lb/in front and 300 lb/in rear spring rates, selected for street and autocross performance.
-
Linear performance springs for predictable weight transfer and consistent handling.
-
Nickel-plated shock bodies for corrosion resistance and long-term durability.
-
Hand-built and dyno-matched dampers for consistent left-to-right performance.
Performance Character
The Spec-S gives the ND Miata a more controlled, confident, and connected feel without taking away the lightness and playfulness that make the car special.
The digressive damping profile provides immediate support during steering inputs, braking, and rapid transitions, while the long-stroke design helps the suspension remain compliant over rough pavement and mid-corner bumps.
The result is a Miata that turns in sharper, stays flatter, and feels more planted without becoming harsh or exhausting to drive every day.
In other words, it makes the ND better at being an ND.
