Dežru Spec-S • Street & Touring 02–07 Subaru WRX Coilover System

Built for the roads the WRX was born to conquer.

Designed to lower your WRX by approximately 25–50 mm, the Spec-S combines fully inverted monotube dampers, digressive valving, and WRX-specific spring rates to deliver exceptional grip, precision, and ride quality.

Dežru Spec-S Coilovers – Subaru WRX (2002–2007)

The Dežru Spec-S is engineered specifically for the 2002–2007 Subaru WRX, delivering a premium suspension package that combines everyday comfort with the control and precision expected from a true driver's car. Built around the GD chassis, the Spec-S sharpens handling, improves stability, and enhances ride quality without relying on excessive spring stiffness.

At each corner is a fully inverted monotube damper, increasing suspension rigidity while reducing flex under hard cornering and braking. The inverted architecture improves steering precision, enhances wheel control, and better manages the demands placed on the WRX's AWD drivetrain during spirited driving.

Developed for drivers who enjoy daily commuting, canyon roads, mountain driving, autocross, and occasional HPDE events, the Spec-S utilizes digressive piston valving that delivers excellent low-speed body control while remaining remarkably compliant over broken pavement and expansion joints. Instead of simply making the suspension stiffer, the Spec-S improves control through sophisticated damping, producing a chassis that feels planted, responsive, and confidence inspiring.

Fixed-length damper bodies paired with a 25–50 mm adjustable lowered ride height preserve proper suspension stroke and geometry, maintaining predictable handling and excellent ride quality throughout the adjustment range.

Key Features

  • Inverted monotube dampers front and rear for maximum rigidity, improved steering precision, and superior wheel control.
  • Digressive piston valving for exceptional body control while maintaining impressive ride comfort.
  • Fixed-length damper bodies with 25–50 mm adjustable lowered ride height to preserve suspension geometry and usable travel.
  • 20-click rebound adjustment for fine tuning ride quality and chassis response.
  • 325 lb/in front and 325 lb/in rear spring rates, selected specifically for the turbocharged WRX chassis.
  • Linear HyperCoil springs for consistent performance and predictable load transfer.
  • OEM-style upper mounts to minimize NVH while maintaining factory fitment.
  • Hand-built, dyno-matched damper pairs for precise left-to-right consistency.

Performance Character

The Spec-S transforms the WRX into a significantly more composed performance car. Initial steering response becomes sharper, body roll is substantially reduced, and weight transfer is more controlled during braking, acceleration, and cornering. The chassis feels noticeably more connected without becoming punishing over imperfect roads.

The inverted dampers improve steering accuracy while the digressive valving allows the suspension to absorb rough pavement without upsetting the chassis. Rather than skipping across bumps, the tires stay planted, improving both grip and driver confidence.

Whether carving through mountain roads, attacking your favorite back road, or simply commuting to work, the Spec-S delivers the precision enthusiasts expect while remaining refined enough for everyday driving.

Why We Recommend 325 lb/in Front & 325 lb/in Rear for the 2002–2007 Subaru WRX

The turbocharged GD WRX places greater demands on the suspension than its naturally aspirated counterpart. Additional front-end weight, higher cornering loads, and increased acceleration all benefit from greater spring support while maintaining the neutral handling characteristics that make the WRX so rewarding to drive.

Our 325 lb/in front and 325 lb/in rear spring package provides the ideal balance between body control, mechanical grip, and ride comfort for a street-driven WRX.

Rather than relying on extremely stiff springs, the Spec-S uses its digressive dampers to manage body movement during braking, cornering, and rapid transitions. This allows the suspension to remain compliant over rough pavement while delivering significantly greater chassis control than conventional coilovers.

This setup:

  • Reduces body roll, brake dive, and acceleration squat
  • Sharpens steering response and turn-in
  • Improves stability during high-speed transitions
  • Maintains excellent compliance over rough pavement
  • Provides outstanding confidence for spirited street driving and occasional track use

Combined with fully inverted dampers and premium digressive valving, the result is a WRX that feels more planted, more responsive, and significantly more capable without sacrificing the comfort expected from a car that's driven every day.
