Dežru Spec-RS • Track Focused Chevrolet Corvette C5 Coilover System

Built to sharpen the C5 without ruining what makes it great.

Engineered around the Corvette C5’s lightweight chassis and rear transaxle layout, the Spec-RS delivers sharper transient response, stronger platform control, and improved confidence during aggressive street and track driving.

Dežru Spec-RS Coilovers – Chevrolet Corvette C5

The Dežru Spec-RS coilover system is engineered specifically for the Chevrolet Corvette C5 chassis. With its lightweight construction, rear-mounted transaxle, and naturally balanced platform, the C5 responds exceptionally well to properly developed suspension tuning.

Developed for serious street driving, canyon roads, autocross, and dedicated track use, the Spec-RS utilizes digressive piston valving to improve low-speed chassis control during braking, turn-in, and weight transfer while maintaining enough compliance to keep the chassis stable and predictable over uneven pavement and curbing.

Unlike generic “one-valving-fits-all” coilovers, the Spec-RS was developed around the Corvette’s motion ratios, suspension geometry, and weight transfer characteristics. The result is a suspension system that feels sharper and more connected without becoming nervous or excessively harsh.

Fixed-length damper bodies paired with a 25–45 mm adjustable lowered ride height help preserve usable suspension stroke and proper geometry. This allows the C5 to maintain composure and grip during aggressive driving rather than sacrificing travel simply to achieve ride height.

Key Features

  • Digressive monotube dampers for improved transient response, consistent damping behavior, and precise chassis control.

  • Remote reservoir configuration improves thermal stability during aggressive driving and extended track sessions.

  • Fixed-length damper bodies with 25–45 mm adjustable lowered ride height to preserve usable suspension travel and geometry.

  • 20-position rebound adjustment allows fine tuning for street driving, canyon use, autocross, or track conditions.

  • 550 lb/in front and 550 lb/in rear spring rates, selected to complement the C5 chassis while maintaining strong platform support and predictable balance.

  • Linear performance springs provide smooth, predictable load transfer throughout suspension travel.

  • Pillowball upper mounts improve steering precision and alignment consistency during high-load driving.

  • Hand-built and dyno-matched dampers ensure precise left-to-right consistency and repeatable performance.

Performance Character

The Spec-RS transforms the Corvette C5 into a sharper, more disciplined chassis without removing the car’s natural communication and balance. The digressive damping profile delivers strong initial platform control during braking and turn-in while remaining composed over mid-corner imperfections and uneven pavement.

Compared to softer street-focused setups, the Spec-RS significantly reduces excess body movement, improves steering response, and increases confidence during high-speed transitions and aggressive driving.

The result is a Corvette that feels flatter, faster reacting, and more precise while still maintaining enough compliance to remain usable outside of the racetrack.

Why We Recommend 550 lb/in Front & 550 lb/in Rear for the Corvette C5

For the Chevrolet Corvette C5, a 550 lb/in front and 550 lb/in rear spring rate provides an excellent balance between chassis support, responsiveness, and overall predictability for aggressive street and track driving.

The 550 lb/in front spring improves braking stability and steering precision while reducing excessive dive and front-end delay during rapid transitions.

The 550 lb/in rear spring provides the additional rear platform support necessary to stabilize the chassis during acceleration and corner exit while complementing the Corvette’s rear transaxle layout and suspension motion ratio.

This combination was selected to work with the Spec-RS digressive valving rather than relying solely on excessive spring stiffness to create control. The result is a setup that maintains grip and communication while still delivering the sharper feel expected from a serious performance suspension.

This setup helps the Corvette:

  • Improve braking support and turn-in response
  • Reduce excess body motion and transition delay
  • Increase rear stability during acceleration and corner exit
  • Maintain composure over uneven pavement and curbing
  • Deliver sharper response without becoming excessively harsh

Overall, the 550/550 combination gives the Corvette C5 a significantly more focused and confidence-inspiring character while preserving the balance and communication that make the chassis so rewarding to drive.
