Balanced daily comfort with real back-road capability.
Designed to lower your car by approximately 25–50 mm while maintaining composure over real-world roads, the Spec-S sharpens turn-in and body control without beating you up on the commute.
Dežru Spec-S Coilovers – Subaru WRX & STI (VA Chassis, 2015–2021)
The Dežru Spec-S coilover system is engineered specifically for the Subaru WRX and STI VA chassis, a capable AWD platform that benefits greatly from balanced spring rates and modern damper tuning. Designed around the VA’s suspension geometry, curb weight, and all-wheel-drive traction, the Spec-S delivers improved stability, sharper response, and greater confidence without sacrificing daily drivability.
Developed for drivers who daily their WRX or STI but still enjoy spirited street driving, back roads, autocross, and occasional HPDE track days, the Spec-S features digressive piston valving that provides strong low-speed chassis support during braking, turn-in, and transitions, while remaining compliant over rough pavement, expansion joints, and uneven surfaces. Rather than relying on excessive stiffness, this setup targets a balanced ride frequency in the ~1.9–2.2 Hz range, improving control and feedback while keeping the car comfortable on real roads.
Fixed-length inverted damper bodies paired with a 25–50 mm adjustable lowered ride height preserve proper suspension stroke and geometry. This maintains usable bump travel and predictable roll behavior, allowing the VA chassis to remain composed, stable, and confidence-inspiring during both daily driving and aggressive use.

Performance Character
The Spec-S transforms the VA WRX and STI by reducing excess body motion and improving overall chassis composure while retaining the AWD confidence and everyday comfort the platform is known for. The digressive damping profile provides immediate support during initial inputs, paired with controlled compliance that keeps all four tires planted as grip levels rise.
The result is a WRX or STI that feels balanced, predictable, and confidence-inspiring, remaining comfortable for daily driving while delivering the control and stability needed for aggressive street and track use.
Why We Recommend 450 lb/in Front & 450 lb/in Rear for the 2015–2021 WRX
The 2015–2021 WRX is a well-rounded performance sedan, but from the factory it’s tuned with relatively soft spring rates and a noticeable understeer bias to keep the car comfortable and easy to drive. While that works for daily use, it can leave the car feeling a bit loose and less responsive when pushed.
Our 450 / 450 spring rate setup is designed to tighten up the chassis while preserving the WRX’s everyday usability.
By running equal spring rates front and rear, we maintain a balanced and predictable feel while significantly improving overall control. This reduces body roll, sharpens response, and gives the car a more connected, planted feel without making it harsh or unforgiving.
Up front, the 450 lb/in spring improves support under braking and turn-in, reducing nose dive and making steering inputs feel more immediate. In the rear, matching that rate keeps the chassis stable under acceleration and helps the car stay composed as power is applied through the AWD system.
The result is a setup that:
- Reduces body roll and improves stability
- Sharpens steering response and driver feedback
- Maintains a neutral, predictable balance
- Keeps ride quality comfortable for daily driving
This pairing works especially well with our digressive valving, where the shock handles most of the chassis control. That allows us to avoid overly stiff springs while still delivering a responsive, performance-oriented feel.
Overall, 450 front / 450 rear gives the WRX a more refined, controlled driving experience without sacrificing comfort, making it ideal for daily driving with occasional spirited use.
