Refined street control for the first-gen Crosstrek.
Designed to lower your Crosstrek by approximately 25–50 mm while improving body control, steering response, and stability without making the car miserable to drive every day.
Dežru Spec-S Coilovers – Subaru Crosstrek (2013–2017)
The Dežru Spec-S coilover system is engineered specifically for the 2013–2017 Subaru Crosstrek, giving the chassis a more planted, composed, and responsive feel while keeping the car comfortable enough for daily use. The Crosstrek has a higher center of gravity than Subaru’s lower sport compact platforms, so the goal is not to over-spring the car, but to control body motion intelligently.
Developed for drivers who daily their Crosstrek but want a sharper feel on back roads, rough pavement, highway transitions, and spirited street driving, the Spec-S uses digressive piston valving to provide strong low-speed support during braking, turn-in, lane changes, and body roll events. At the same time, the damper remains compliant enough to deal with broken pavement and normal road imperfections without the harsh, over-sprung feel common with generic coilover kits.
Fixed-length inverted damper bodies paired with a 25–50 mm adjustable lowered ride height help preserve usable stroke and suspension control. This gives the Crosstrek a lower, more stable stance while maintaining the composure needed for real-world roads.
Key Features
-
Digressive inverted monotube dampers for precise body control, consistent damping performance, and improved driver feedback.
-
Fixed-length damper bodies with 25–50 mm adjustable lowered ride height to preserve usable suspension travel.
-
Adjustable damping to fine-tune ride quality and response for daily driving, back-road use, and spirited street driving.
-
350 lb/in front and 450 lb/in rear spring rates, selected specifically for the Crosstrek’s weight balance, higher center of gravity, and rear suspension motion ratio.
-
Linear HyperCoil springs for predictable load transfer and smooth, consistent response throughout the suspension travel.
-
OEM-style upper mounts to minimize NVH while maintaining proper fitment and alignment consistency.
-
Hand-built, dyno-matched pairs to ensure precise left-to-right damping consistency.
Performance Character
The Spec-S transforms the Crosstrek by reducing excess body roll, float, and delayed chassis response without turning it into a harsh track car. The result is a more stable, confident, and connected version of the car that still makes sense for daily driving.
The 350 front / 450 rear spring pairing is designed around the Crosstrek’s chassis layout. The front strut suspension has a more direct spring-to-wheel relationship, while the rear suspension requires more spring rate to achieve the correct wheel rate at the tire. This is why the rear spring rate is higher on paper without making the car feel rear-stiff or unstable.
Compared to a generic stiff coilover setup, this combination keeps the front end compliant enough to maintain grip and steering feel while giving the rear of the car the support it needs to reduce roll, improve balance, and keep the chassis from feeling lazy during quick transitions.
Why We Recommend 350 lb/in Front & 450 lb/in Rear for the Crosstrek
The first-generation Crosstrek is not a BRZ, WRX, or STI. It has more ride height, more body movement, and a different suspension layout, so copying spring rates from a lower sport compact usually creates the wrong result.
Our 350 / 450 setup is designed to give the Crosstrek the support it needs without making it feel over-sprung. The front rate improves braking stability, steering response, and turn-in without making the front tires skate over rough pavement. The rear rate is higher because the rear suspension requires more spring rate to create the right wheel rate at the tire.
This helps the Crosstrek feel more neutral, more settled, and less top-heavy, especially during quick transitions or uneven-road cornering.
The result is a setup that:
- Reduces excess body roll and float
- Improves steering response and chassis stability
- Maintains daily-driver comfort
- Supports the rear properly without making the car nervous
- Works with the digressive valving instead of relying on excessive spring stiffness
Overall, 350 front / 450 rear gives the 13–17 Crosstrek a more controlled, confident, and refined street feel while preserving the comfort and usability that make the platform enjoyable every day.
